Design and Technology
At Kenton Bar Primary School, we place a great emphasis on the importance of Design and Technology within our curriculum. Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject which contributes to the creativity and imagination of our pupils.
Intent
In our Early Years Foundation Stage, we aim to
- Develop imagination and creativity in our children
Develop the ability to use media and materials
In Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, children study the National Curriculum for Design and Technology and we aim to:
- Engage, inspire and challenge pupils
Allow children to take risks, become resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens
Draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art
Develop a critical understanding in children of the impact of design and technology on daily life and the wider world.
- Teach crucial life skills.
