Geography
At Kenton Bar Primary School, geography is a key subject in many of our termly topics. Teaching geography is essential to developing young children’s natural fascination for the world around them.
Intent
In our Early Years Foundation Stage, we aim to:
- Guide children to make sense of their physical world and their community
Explore, observe and find out about people, places and the environment
In Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, children study the National Curriculum for Geography and we aim to:
Engage, inspire and challenge pupils
Equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments
Develop and deepen pupils’ understanding of key physical and human processes
Teach a range of skills to enable children to collect, analyse, interpret and communicate with geographical information.
